Built in 1874 on the site of an old coaching inn, The Buck is located on the Penine way and within walking distance of the enchanting Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar, some of Yorkshire’s most scenic spots.
The Buck has also been featured on Julia Bradbury's ‘Best Walks with a View’, Adrian Edmonson's ‘The Dales’ and Four in a Bed.
Meet the team
Karen – ‘The Big Boss’
With years of experience in the hospitality industry, Karen took over The Buck Inn in 2016. Investing a lot of energy and passion into The Buck, Karen has continually worked to bring the best experience to customers, including renovating the rooms and pub, employing a top kitchen team and being on hand to ensure guests receive great customer service.
From serving breakfast to pulling pints and paying the Bills, Karen is always somewhere nearby and at the heart of the Buck.
Danie – ‘The Little Boss’
Not many people would choose to work with their mother-in-law! But as someone who always likes to get involved, joining the family business seemed almost inevitable for Danie. Often busy behind the scenes, Danie works alongside Karen, exploring ways to develop the business and improve the customer experience.
Outside of the Buck, Danie works as a personal development coach, which she now combines with her role at The Buck, hosting retreat experiences, for those looking to escape the every-day with wellness activities and personal development coaching, all set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
Dan – General Manager
Dan has been part of the Buck Inn family for over 14 years, joining as pot wash aged just 14 and progressing to head chef by 18, choosing the challenges of the kitchen over leaving for university. Although skilled in the kitchen, Dan’s real talent and passion have always shone through as part of the front of house team, where he has developed into a natural leader.
After a small break from hospitality, and having realised, once again, how much he loved it and missed us all, Dan has returned to the Buck Inn as General Manager following the birth of his daughter, Harper. His friendly nature and great attention to detail ensure that the high standards are maintained, and customers are well looked after. He looks forward to many more years of serving our wonderful customers.
Paul – Head Chef
Starting his chef career aged just 15 and having worked at numerous successful establishments over the past 20 years, Paul brings a wealth of experience to head up our talented kitchen team. Yorkshire born and bred, Paul chooses locally sourced produce and the best quality ingredients to create a menu that caters for all tastes. Looks out for specials, offering exciting new dishes to try, alongside all the usual pub favourites. Happily married and an avid golfer, Paul has many talents outside the kitchen, including being rather good at DIY, as we discovered during lockdown!
